What is the Dictionary?

The Dictionary is a fast, free tool for unscrambling letters and finding valid words for Scrabble, Words With Friends, Wordle, anagrams and similar board and mobile games. Every match is drawn from a 270,000-word dictionary and displayed with its point value, so you can check it against the game you are playing right now.

How the Dictionary works?

Type any combination of letters and our engine searches the full dictionary to find every valid word — sorted by Scrabble score so you always know the best play. Use the Options to filter results or change the default word list, then refine by prefix, suffix, or the letters a word must include.

  1. Enter your letters

Type any combination of letters — up to 15 — into the search box. Use ? as a wildcard for blank tiles.

  2. Filter the results

Narrow the matches by length, or add a prefix, suffix, or must-include letters to zero in on the play you need.

  3. Read the tile score

Every word shows its Scrabble point value, so you can spot the highest-scoring option for your rack at a glance.

  4. Check the meaning

Tap a word to confirm it is valid and learn what it means before you drop it on the board.

Tips for scoring better!

The Dictionary helps you find valid words from the tiles at hand. It is fine to just win or settle disputes — but aim to learn as you go, because a few short words and simple tactics make it much easier to score in every game.

  • Memorise the 2-letter words and 3-letter words to open hooks everywhere on the board.
  • Use prefix and suffix filters to plan parallel plays and clear awkward tiles.
  • Learn the high-value tiles — Q, Z, X and J — and the short words that unload them.
  • Pair the dictionary with the Anagram Solver when you have loose tiles to place.
